Biography
Fabián D. Maldonado is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of Notre Dame. His research interests lie at the intersection of political sociology, economic sociology, and contentious politics. He is developing a research agenda on the contentious dynamics surrounding markets and technological infrastructures, with particular attention to artificial intelligence, professional communities, and public contestation around emerging technologies. At Notre Dame, Fabián is a Lucy Graduate Scholar at the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society and a Doctoral Student Affiliate at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies. His work combines qualitative and computational methods, including social network analysis, machine learning, computational text analysis, and survey experiments. His current and collaborative projects examine protest dynamics on social media, transnational networks of organizations responding to global challenges, social movement alliances, political polarization, and the relationship between democratic practices and beliefs about inequality.
