Representational Panic: Deep Fakes and the Long History of Images of People

A historian and theorist of the face and body, Sharrona Pearl, the Andrews Endowed Chair of Interdisciplinary studies at Texas Christian University, has published widely on Victorian history of medicine, media, and religion, and critical race, gender, and disability studies.

Pearl will present a talk on deep fakes and AI-generated “people” as part of a longer history of technological interventions in representation.

This talk is sponsored by the Program of Liberal Studies, the John J. Reilly Center, and the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society.
