What are we talking about when we talk about open-source communities- those who lie in the periphery, overshadowed by the Big Techs, but have constantly made prominent contributions since the beginning of GenAI development?
This panel event, hosted by the Lucy Graduate Scholars, is an attempt to put open-source communities closer to the center. We aim to ask seriously about the benefits they make possible and the risks they carry, not in the abstract, but through real cases, real deployments, and real experiences.
Panelists:
- Luis Felipe R. Murillo, assistant professor, Department of Anthropology
- Ting Hua, assistant professor, Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society
